Company of Heroes 3 Final Stand Builds & Loadouts

Wave-by-wave priorities, roguelite picks, and co-op roles for all four factions.

Final Stand Builds — Horde Loadouts

Final Stand (Steam app 4836540, launching July 29, 2026) uses a different economy than ranked multiplayer — wave income, between-wave roguelite choices, and faction progression trees replace neutral capture timing. This page translates horde mode into actionable loadout priorities per faction, co-op role splits, and difficulty scaling across eight challenge levels. Read Final Stand Guide for mode overview and Patch 2.5.0 for companion ranked changes.

How Final Stand builds differ from ranked

Ranked Builds chase Fuel by 6:00 and medium armor by 10:00. Final Stand chases:

  1. Choke identification by wave 2 — before first serious infantry rush
  2. Layered defense by wave 5 — mines, MG, or emplacement online before mid-game spike
  3. Munitions burst windows — waves 7, 10, and boss phases, not continuous spend
  4. Between-wave synergies — randomized unit or ability picks that persist for the run

Each run, you construct a custom battlegroup from randomized offers after waves — choose options that compound, not one-off gimmicks. Meta-unlocks from faction progression trees carry between runs; in-run picks do not.

Difficulty selection

Final Stand ships eight difficulty levels at launch. Recommended progression:

LevelAudienceBuild focus
1–2New to CoHLearn cover and retreat — Cover and Combat
3–4CoH veteransStandard choke + one Munitions ability per mid spike
5–6Horde optimizersFull progression tree investment, Endless prep
7–8Challenge seekersPerfect ability rotation; zero wasted retreats

Drop one difficulty level if you lose twice at the same wave — usually wave 7 Munitions drought or wave 10 blob break failure.

US Forces — flexible cleanup build

Core identity: Adapt to random between-wave offers; strong combined arms cleanup.

Waves 1–4:

  • Assign Unit Control Groups — group 1 main line, group 2 flank AT
  • Prioritize offers that add persistent DPS (MG teams, riflemen vet) over single-use gadgets
  • Hold one Munitions ability for wave 4 mini-spike

Waves 5–8:

  • Add area denial — mines or artillery calldown if offered
  • Between-wave picks: prefer reinforcement speed or squad capacity over raw damage if offers tie
  • Wave 7 is the first real gear check — spend Munitions before contact, not during

Waves 9–12 / Boss:

  • Save smoke or suppression for boss add waves
  • Retreat (R) wounded vet squads — progression rewards survival when rules allow
  • Co-op: US player handles mobile cleanup while partner anchors choke

British Forces — emplacement anchor build

Core identity: Static defense, artillery spikes, choke dominance.

Waves 1–4:

  • Identify primary emplacement arc — do not spread across two chokes early
  • Between-wave offers favoring emplacement build speed or MG teams beat aggressive vehicle picks on choke maps
  • Bank Munitions from wave 3 for emplacement completion before wave 5

Waves 5–8:

  • Artillery on dense wave 7 — British pays off here more than any faction
  • Layer mines at secondary approach if battleground allows flanks
  • Avoid over-committing Commandos-style picks unless co-op partner holds main line

Waves 9–12 / Boss:

  • Pre-place AT facing boss vehicle adds
  • Scorched-earth or denial abilities on boss phase channeled attacks
  • Co-op: British anchors; partner handles roaming threats

Wehrmacht — counter-push build

Core identity: Aggressive trades between waves; punish overextensions.

Waves 1–4:

  • Slightly wider formation than British — Wehrmacht bleeds if blobbed in red cover
  • Pick infantry vet or early light vehicle offers when available
  • Use wave downtime to reposition — static turtle loses on wide battlegrounds

Waves 5–8:

  • Counter-push after each wave clears — reclaim forward cover for next spawn path
  • Munitions on grenade bundles or assault abilities before wave 7
  • Flame or suppression offers excel post-Patch 2.5.0 anti-blob metas in ranked crossover skills

Waves 9–12 / Boss:

  • Burst damage windows on boss — do not drag fights into next wave timer
  • Co-op: Wehrmacht flanks while anchor holds; communicate push timing

Afrikakorps — mobile reserve build

Core identity: Hold choke lightly; vehicle clears during wave peaks.

Waves 1–4:

  • Minimum infantry to hold — invest offers toward light vehicle or repair options
  • Wide battlegrounds favor DAK — choke maps require tighter infantry play
  • Do not skip AT — boss phases introduce vehicles even if early waves are infantry-only

Waves 5–8:

  • Vehicle harass between waves — reduce next wave spawn pressure
  • Fuel-like wave income spikes mid-run — spend on vehicle upgrades when offered
  • Keep one mobile AT piece for wave 10 armor rushes

Waves 9–12 / Boss:

  • Vehicle kiting on boss adds — rear armor discipline per Cover and Combat
  • Co-op: DAK mobile reserve responds to lane breaks partner cannot fix

Co-op role matrix

Partner APartner BLane split
British anchorUS cleanupMain choke + flank sweeps
British anchorWehrmacht pushHold + counter between waves
US flexibleDAK mobileShared choke, DAK clears leaks
Wehrmacht + DAKAggressive; higher skill — risk double-overextend

Communicate Munitions abilities — double artillery on the same wave is waste. Use voice or ping discipline.

Between-wave pick priority

When randomized offers appear, use this tie-break order:

  1. Synergy with existing composition — duplicate role types only if tier upgrade
  2. Persistent value — vet, capacity, build speed beat one-shot unless boss next wave
  3. Battleground fit — emplacement picks on chokes; vehicle picks on wide maps
  4. Progression tree alignment — picks that unlock tree nodes you are chasing

Endless Mode transition

After clearing wave 12, Endless Mode scaling punishes greedy compositions without AoE. Before entering Endless:

  • Confirm two sources of blob break (artillery, flame, or vehicle splash)
  • Full Munitions bank entering wave 13
  • Both co-op players agree on retreat thresholds — Endless losses come from donated vet squads

Pricing and access reminder

Final Stand is standalone (~$29.99 USD at launch) with a 10% launch discount and an additional 20% bundle discount for CoH3 owners on app 1677280. These builds apply regardless of how you purchased — no ranked DLC required.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Company of Heroes 3 questions.

Do ranked build orders work in Final Stand?

Partially — early squad habits transfer, but wave economy and between-wave picks replace Fuel timing. Use this page instead of faction ranked builds.

Best faction for first Final Stand clear?

British Forces on choke-heavy battlegrounds; US Forces if you want flexible forgiveness on varied maps.

How do between-wave picks work?

After each wave, choose from randomized units or abilities that persist for the run. Synergize with your composition — details in Final Stand Guide.

Does co-op need matching factions?

No — complementary roles (anchor + mobile) beat duplicate compositions.

When does Update 3.0 add content?

Later 2026 — sixth battleground and more. See Update 3.0 Preview page.
