Company of Heroes 3 Dare & Destroy Battlegroup Builds
Practical openings and playstyles for all four new command trees from patch 2.4.0.
Dare & Destroy added four battlegroups in patch 2.4.0 (May 14, 2026). Each tree demands a different opening rhythm — defensive banking, siege aggression, raid tempo, or vehicle ace timing. This page translates those trees into ranked-ready build orders with links to faction-specific detail pages. Read Dare & Destroy overview for DLC purchase context and Tier List: Battlegroups for current tier placement.
Build principles for new trees
All four Dare & Destroy battlegroups share constraints with legacy trees:
- Neutral control by 2:00 — Resource Management still governs income
- One tree, twenty games — do not rotate battlegroups daily; mastery beats novelty
- Munitions before contact — new abilities reward pre-fight banking per Cover and Combat
- Control groups assigned — Unit Control Groups separate main line from flank tools
Use Build Order Planner to log your minute-by-minute checkpoints per tree.
US Forces — Free French build
Playstyle: Defensive anchor → Railway Artillery spike → Char B1 breakthrough
Opening (0–5 min):
- Standard rifle squad caps — identical to US Forces Builds early game
- Prioritize one strong neutral with cover — Free French pays off later, not minute one
- Bank Munitions from minute 3 — resist early ability spam
Mid-game (5–10 min):
- Deploy Bastions/Tourelle at primary choke — forces opponent to spend Munitions clearing or flank wide
- Railway Artillery on massed pushes or emplacement clusters — coordinate with teammate calldown if 2v2
- Transition Char B1 bis when opponent commits medium armor — B1 trades slowly; support with AT infantry
Win condition: Opponent bleeds Munitions attacking prepared positions; you win artillery exchanges. Weak on wide open maps — ban or dodge desert rotations in 1v1 if uncomfortable.
Wehrmacht — Siege Breaker build
Playstyle: Early pressure → Flame Halftrack blob break → Sturmtiger emplacement delete
Opening (0–5 min):
- Aggressive double-infantry into neutrals — mirror Wehrmacht Builds rush timing
- Scout opponent battlegroup — if Free French or British defensive, delay Sturmtiger greed
- Fuel contest by 6:00 — Siege Breaker loses without mid-game vehicle support
Mid-game (5–12 min):
- Flame Halftracks against infantry blobs — especially post-2.5.0 anti-blobbing metas per Patch 2.5.0
- Siege Specialists for emplacement assault — pair with smoke from legacy abilities if available
- Sturmtiger when opponent commits artillery triangle — one shot can swing team games
Win condition: Delete defensive anchors before they compound; Flame Halftracks punish players who ignore Cover and Combat spread. Sturmtiger is late — do not lose the early game waiting for it.
British Forces — Special Service build
Playstyle: Standard emplacement base → Commando raid spike → Scorched Earth denial
Opening (0–5 min):
- Hold neutrals with standard infantry — do not sacrifice caps for Commando greed
- Light emplacement if map allows — British Forces Builds triangle still valid
- Float Munitions for Commando insertion window ~7–8 min
Mid-game (5–12 min):
- Commandos deep strike opponent Fuel or artillery — force reaction, not deathball trades
- Scorched Earth on overextended vehicles — punishes DAK and US armor pushes
- Return to emplacement anchor after raid — Special Service is tempo, not abandonment of defense
Win condition: Opponent loses economic rhythm reacting to raids; you retain map control. Strongest in 2v2 where ally holds while Commandos flank. In 1v1, raid timing must not leave home neutrals empty.
DAK — Elite Forces build
Playstyle: Fuel race → Command 8Rad harass → Tiger Ace anchor + Ace Stuka spike
Opening (0–5 min):
- Standard DAK Builds infantry-to-Fuel path — Elite Forces fails without Fuel lead
- Command 8Rad early for vision and harass — deny opponent comfortable tech
- Do not skip AT — US medium armor timing punishes greedy 8Rad play
Mid-game (5–12 min):
- Tiger Ace as mid-game anchor — vet preservation critical; retreat wounded ace per Cover and Combat
- Ace Stuka on blob breaks or isolated vehicles — Munitions expensive; fire on winning trades only
- Reinforce infantry around Tiger — ace alone dies to coordinated AT
Win condition: Fuel snowball into unstoppable armor. Highest ceiling, highest loss rate if Fuel fails — specialist pick per Tier List: Factions.
Matchup notes
| Your tree | Strong vs | Weak vs |
|---|---|---|

| Siege Breaker | British/Free French defensive | Early rush before Flame Halftracks |
| Special Service | Slow vehicle tech | Fast infantry rush |
| Elite Forces | Mid-game armor trades | Early AT focus, Fuel denial |
Cross-reference 1v1 Meta Builds for faction baselines — Dare & Destroy trees modify mid-game, not minute-zero economy.
Patch and meta tracking
2.5.0 (July 29, 2026) anti-blobbing may elevate Siege Breaker and Free French Railway Artillery — watch Balance & Meta. Hotfixes after May 14, 2026 adjusted node costs — re-verify timings weekly via Updates.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Company of Heroes 3 questions.
Which Dare & Destroy build is best for beginners?
Free French — defensive tools forgive early mistakes. Avoid Elite Forces until Fuel fundamentals are solid.
Do these builds replace faction build pages?
No. Use faction builds for 0–5 min openings; this page covers Dare & Destroy mid-game transitions.
How does 2.5.0 anti-blobbing affect these builds?
Siege Breaker Flame Halftracks and Free French artillery gain value. Spread infantry — blobs die faster post-2.5.0.
Can I use Dare & Destroy trees in Final Stand?
Final Stand uses separate faction progression trees. These builds apply to ranked and skirmish.
What if I do not own the DLC?
You cannot select these trees. Study them anyway — opponents use them in ranked.
